It is the end of the semester and as I am scrambling to study for exams and write papers I am constantly reminded of how much I have learned this semester and how much more there is to know. As I hit the books I will leave you this week with a few resources to check out.
The Lighter Side of Things – Weigh Less, Live More
I am going to admit an important detail about the start of my journey to getting fit - I have never ever been on a “diet” in my life. I did not get myself into shape by “dieting” and deprivation (two things that seem to go hand in hand), I did it by truly taking care of myself – body, mind and soul.
That First Marché in Paris
We struck out early on a cool and cloudy morning for Marchè d’Aligre. It was the first of many marché visits we made over the course of our two weeks together in France. It was everything you would expect of an outdoor French market. There were stalls abundant with vibrant fruits and vegetables, boisterous competing vendors attempting to solicit sales from passersby with a running commentary about their superior products, and a calmer indoor enclosed section featuring meats, cheeses and other specialty items.
Going Back To My Roots
Farming the Sustainable Way From the Mediterranean Coast to the Urban Campus
When I first entered the NYU Urban Farm Lab for my Introduction to Urban Agriculture class I was surprised by the sentimental emotions that hit me – it was a combination of feeling like things had come full circle and nostalgia.

Get More Pep In Your Step – Increase Your Energy
I used to struggle to find the endurance to make it through the day without crashing by the mid-afternoon and looking for external energy boosters. Before I discovered how to increase and then maintain my energy levels I was a bit of a pain to be around actually. When my energy was low I felt tired and tended towards mild headaches and lethargy, accompanied by sudden uncontrollable bursts of grumpiness and snapping at others.
Two Weeks in Paris
Having not studied abroad as an undergrad, the opportunity to make up for it during my graduate studies was something I eagerly anticipated. I planned to take the Global Food Cultures course in Paris back when I first applied to the master’s program in Food Studies at NYU Steinhardt.
Big Soda Is In The News...
As anyone who has gone to graduate school knows, there is a lot of reading assigned and even more that professors assume you are doing in your field to keep on top of current events. I have been diligently trying to keep on top of it all this semester and I find that people often ask me what I am reading for classes. I thought I would share some things I have been reading in the news for my Food Policy and Politics class with Marion Nestle, PhD.
